Remanso de Amor Foundation is a non profit organization, located in the district of Canapote, in Cartagena, Colombia.
Founded on June 11th, 1996 with 10 children as a Children’s Day Care Center and registered as a Foundation on November 2005.  Its legal creation was authorized by Resolution No. 0101, dated February 12, 1998 issued by Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF), entity empowered by the Government of Colombia to set the regulations on this type of activities.

More than 20% of the urban population of Cartagena (over 200.000 hab.) live within the lowest social-economic income range.  Among them, we find the prototype of local family, conformed of 6 to 8 members who live on an income of a minimum wage or less (USD$220 per month).

Based on a professional diagnosis of the basic social needs of the local population, as well as, on the children school desertion indicators Remanso de Amor was founded. Therefore, we aim to offer most of the local children and families an adequate assistance, thus increasing the opportunity of a healthy growth into adulthood through educational, nutritional and health services.
